Baron Corbin vs. Kalisto ended in no contest

Baron Corbin flat out refused his involvement in the Six-Man Tag Team main event that had been announced at the beginning of SmackDown LIVE. In response, Shane McMahon begrudgingly bartered with The Lone Wolf, saying that he would still compete instead against the Superstar that he had injured several months ago  Kalisto

Before the bell could even ring on the luchador’s return, Corbin viciously began to assault his masked opponent, both in and out of the ring. However, before the attack could get too out of hand, Corbin unfortunately slipped on the apron and appeared to injure his leg. With payback on his mind, Kalisto did not hesitate to target Corbin’s leg, even though the bell had never officially rung. He dropkicked the leg into the steps and then Frog Splashed it for good measure.
Officials ushered Kalisto away, but one thing was clear Corbin was hurt.

We are back and Baron Corbin says Swagger’s existence is a bad joke. You put your hand on your heart and the people chant with you like it matters. They are doing it at your expense. When he beats Jack tonight, he is beating everyone in the arena and anyone in the world who says We the People.

Match Number Four: Jack Swagger versus Baron Corbin

Swagger with a shoulder tackle and then he clotheslines Corbin over the top rope to the floor. Swagger goes to the floor and he sends Corbin back into the ring. Swagger with a punch but Corbin with a running shoulder tackle that knocks Swagger off the apron and into the ringside barrier. Corbin with forearms to the back of the head against the ringside barrier. Corbin sends Swagger back in and Corbin with a knee to the head and he follows with End of Days for the three count.

Winner: Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin def. Jack Swagger

In a hard-hitting rematch between two of WWE’s biggest hosses, it was an illegal eye gouge from Baron Corbin that spelled the End of Days for Jack Swagger.
These two heated rivals battled once already, with Swagger winning in controversial fashion after the referee called for the bell, believing Corbin had tapped out. Their rematch at No Mercy proved to be as equally competitive and controversial.
Corbin wasted no time unleashing a ruthless attack against his patriotic foe, immediately going on the offensive. The Lone Wolf’s callousness was on further display as he kicked the steel steps into Swagger’s left hand, causing The Real American to writhe in pain.
Swagger successfully slowed down his rival’s momentum, but was unable to capitalize thanks to his injured hand. In the end, it was a controversial move by Corbin that proved to be the deciding factor. The rugged competitor gouged Swagger’s eyes while the referee’s attention was turned away, before nailing the End of Days to pick up the victory.

Jack Swagger jumped ship and joined SmackDown LIVE

The All-American American jumps ship, leaving Raw for SmackDown LIVE in time to get in the ring with the Lone Wolf.

It was supposed to be a rematch from Backlash Kickoff between Apollo Crews and Baron Corbin, but Corbin viciously attacked Crews before the match could even begin.

However, Corbin would have only so much time to enjoy his handy work, in a sudden twist, Jack Swagger arrived on SmackDown LIVE. He and Corbin had a tense stare down before Corbin chose to leave on his own accord and then Swagger announced to the WWE Universe in Philly that his contract with Raw had expired and he was now officially a member of the SmackDown LIVE roster.

WE, the people, indeed.

Baron Corbin def. Apollo Crews

After mocking Apollo Crews backstage earlier in the evening, Baron Corbin backed up his words by beating the talented Superstar one-two-three in the middle of the ring on Backlash Kickoff.

The two New Era standouts both came out with something to prove and clearly wanting to establish themselves on the SmackDown LIVE depth chart. Crews’ athletic ability and explosive offensive proved to be a fascinating clash of styles against Corbin’s brute strength and ground-and-pound preferences.
Crews withstood a ton of punishment from The Lone Wolf, including a huge clothesline that turned him inside out, but he fired back with several major maneuvers including a running knee strike and his patented standing moonsault.

Crews appeared to be in firm control after hitting a big Samoan Drop on the outside. But Corbin was able to recover and surged in the match’s final moments, first kneeing Crews in the face and then connecting flush with End of Days to secure the victory in an incredibly hard-fought contest.

Baron Corbin def. Sin Cara

The masked marvel takes flight against The Lone Wolf.

Among the more under-the-radar nuggets of the WWE Brand Extension Draft: The Lucha Dragons are eligible as individual competitors and have indeed decided to go their separate ways. Although their potential last Raw as a duo may have included a loss for Sin Cara, they at least got the chance to showcase their unity one last time. It’s a shame it didn’t turn out better. Sin Cara had just fallen to Baron Corbin in relatively quick fashion, but when The Lone Wolf attempted to further punish The International Sensation, Kalisto came Sin Cara’s rescue. The final stand of The Lucha Dragons, however, was cut short when Corbin axe-handled Kalisto in the back of the head, splaying The King of Flight all over the outside.

Darren Young won a Battle Royal to become No. 1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship
DETROIT — Getting yelled at by Bob Backlund for two months might be a better training plan than we all thought. The WWE Hall of Famer’s quest to “Make Darren Young Great Again” got off to a smashing start when Mr. No Days Off, in his first bout under Mr. Backlund’s tutelage, won a Battle Royal to become next man up for…
Like all great victories, it was equal parts perseverance, skill and luck. The perseverance and skill came by outlasting the majority of WWE’s tag team competitors to make the final four alongside Dolph Ziggler, Apollo Crews and Baron Corbin. And the luck came when Crews and Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner Corbin simultaneously tossed each other in the closing seconds, leaving Young the winner and causing an overjoyed Backlund to celebrate with him in the ring. This. Is. Happening.

Baron Corbin def. Zack Ryder

“Zack Daddy” tests his mettle against The Lone Wolf.

Having finally moved past Dolph Ziggler at Money in the Bank, Baron Corbin set his sights on the only possible target: The Showoff’s broski. Zack Ryder was the next unfortunate soul added to The Lone Wolf’s boneyard on Raw, despite what is becoming a signature show of heart by the former Intercontinental Champion. Corbin suffered a Broski Boot, dropkick and El-Bro Drop, but the effort of Ryder’s offense left him too banged up to close the match out. The Lone Wolf caught Ryder with a punch to the face mid-springboard and quickly followed up with the End of Days.

Baron Corbin def. Dolph Ziggler

LAS VEGAS — Rookie mistakes have cost Baron Corbin in the past, but against two-time World Champion Dolph Ziggler at WWE Money in the Bank, The Lone Wolf showed the world — and The Showoff — his ability to evolve and adapt as a competitor.

Capitalizing on a misstep by Ziggler, Corbin used the End of Days to shut down The Showoff in just over 12 minutes, perhaps finally bringing to a close a rivalry that has raged on since the night after WrestleMania.

Though conclusive, The Lone Wolf’s win didn’t come easily. The veteran Ziggler used his agility to keep Corbin on his toes early, connecting with a dropkick before being floored by the heavy hands of the three-time Golden Gloves boxer. Corbin then pursued a methodical attack, putting all of his 280 pounds on Ziggler as he controlled him on the canvas.

Baron Corbin looks to knock off the more veteran Superstar, Dolph Ziggler, in a bitter fight at WWE Money in the Bank 2016: Courtesy of the award-winning WWE Network.

Ziggler bounced back, but every time The Showoff began to build momentum, Corbin stopped him in his tracks. With each reversal of Ziggler’s offense, The Lone Wolf displayed proved he was one step ahead of the veteran Superstar. When The Showoff sought to Irish whip Corbin into the corner, the 6-foot-8 brawler displayed incredible quickness, sliding out and then back into the ring before tagging Ziggler with a vicious surprise clothesline. On two occasions, Corbin successfully countered one of Ziggler’s favorite weapons, the Famouser.

The third time was the charm, as The Showoff eventually connected with the Famouser, yet Corbin still would not stay down, kicking out at two. Moments later, when the action spilled to the outside, Ziggler leapt off the ring steps toward Corbin. Except Ziggler lost his footing during the high-risk attack, allowing the winner of the 2016 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal to catch Ziggler and slam him on the floor with the Deep Six.

Ever-resilient, Ziggler fought on, and even attempted to take the battle to the air by climbing to the top rope. Once again, The Lone Wolf showed his heightened ring awareness, cutting Ziggler off at the pass and bringing him back inside the ring, where he dropped him with the End of Days for the pin.

Now that Corbin has taken down one of WWE’s most established and revered competitors, who is the next member of WWE’s established guard to feel The Lone Wolf’s bite?

Baron Corbin def. Zack Ryder

With Dolph Ziggler at ringside, Long Island Iced-Z goes head-to-head with The Lone Wolf.

With his Money in the Bank Kickoff adversary Dolph Ziggler joining SmackDown commentary, Baron Corbin went to war against Zack Ryder. In the end, despite a solid offensive by Long Island Iced-Z, the brutal nature of The Lone Wolf would not be denied. Keeping The Showoff in his sights the entire time, he blasted his opponent with End of Days for the victory.

With a post-match faceoff nearly bringing about their Money in the Bank Kickoff showdown three days early, will Corbin take down Ziggler?
