Bryan thought they were on the same team and he isn’t sure if he agrees with Shane’s decision. Shane says sometimes he has to take action and make things happen, it’s in his job description. Bryan comments on giving his input to Shane, as that’s in his job description. Bryan walks off.

The bell rings and Cara charges but Corbin attacks and takes him to the corner. Corbin unloads with knees and yells at the referee. Corbin drops Cara and then launches him across the ring. Angle is about to announce the 5 best men’s Superstars for the match at Survivor Series but Shane McMahon’s music interrupts and out comes the SmackDown Commissioner. Shane appears in the crowd with The New Day, Becky Lynch, WWE United States Champion Baron Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, Zack Ryder, Mojo Rawley, Shinsuke Nakamura, Chad Gable, Shelton Benjamin, SmackDown Women’s Champion Natalya, Carmella, Bobby Roode, Tamina Snuka, Tye Dillinger, Rusev, AJ Styles and maybe just a few other blue brand Superstars.

Shane enters the ring with Kurt as the blue brand Superstars surround the ring. Shane stares at Angle. Shane simply says: under siege. Angle drops the mic and backs away, leaving the ring. Angle heads to the back and looks worried. Shane orders the blue team to “go get ’em” and they head up the ramp. Angle hurries to the back.

We see the SmackDown Superstars enter the backstage area. They see Titus O’Neil and Apollo Crews first. Xavier Woods taunts them before the group beats them down. They move on and come up on an intern next. Corbin takes him out. Roode and Dillinger destroy a TV screen with the RAW logo on it. They keep walking, taking out Goldust, Curtis Axel and Curt Hawkins next. They enter the RAW locker room next, taking out Matt Hardy, Jason Jordan and another Superstar. They enter another part of the locker room and attack several other RAW Superstars. They face the women next. Natalya, Becky, Tamina and Carmella attack Sasha Banks, Bayley, Mickie James and Alicia Fox. We see Shane nodding in approval back in the ring. Some fans boo.

The group keeps walking but they’re attacked by Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. The numbers catch up and the RAW Tag Team Champions are also beat down. Rusev and Corbin hold Kurt Angle, making him look at Rollins and Ambrose down on the ground. The blue brand mob brings Angle back to the arena now. Shane watches from the ring as the SmackDown stars stand on the stage with Angle. Shane waves them down to the ring. Corbin and Rusev bring Angle into the ring while the others stand on the outside. Angle and Shane stare each other down. Shane says he wants Angle to bring his gold medal, what’s left of the RAW roster because they’re going to finish what they started. It’s true, it’s damn true. The SmackDown roster beats on the apron to taunt Angle. Shane’s music hits as he leaves with the rest of the blue brand Superstars. An embarrassed & angry Angle looks on from the ring as SmackDown leaves through the crowd. RAW goes off the air with Angle frozen.

Baron Corbin def. AJ Styles and Tye Dillinger to become the new United States Champion

DETROIT — Technically, Baron Corbin didn’t take any shortcuts to become the new United States Champion. He pinned a Superstar, clean as a whistle, 1-2-3, to earn his first title in WWE. He just didn’t pin the United States Champion.
After SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan added Tye Dillinger to what had originally been a battle between Corbin and reigning titleholder AJ Styles, Corbin found himself outnumbered and targeted by two Superstars who were very open about their mutual respect for one another. And given that Dillinger had finagled his way into the match off the strength of a pinfall win over Corbin this past week on SmackDown LIVE, he posed just as significant a challenge to The Lone Wolf’s championship aspirations as The Phenomenal One.

Yet the former Mr. Money in the Bank played the situation right from the beginning, sitting back and letting Styles and Dillinger tee off on each other before picking the bones of whomever was left standing. In one particularly genius sequence, Corbin even launched Styles into Dillinger, then slid The Phenomenal One face-first into the ring post. The Lone Wolf focused the most intense of his efforts on Styles in order to isolate Dillinger, but The Phenomenal One brawled his way back into the match for a one-on-one throwdown.

While Styles got a little too ambitious with an attempt at a Styles Clash, he was still able to clock Corbin with a knee to the head on the outside. Dillinger immediately threw himself into the fray and found himself trapped in a Calf Crusher, though Corbin pulled him to the outside to prevent a tapout. A three-way brawl followed, and Styles seemed to have the final upper hand after connecting with a Phenomenal Forearm on The Perfect 10. Before AJ could cover Dillinger, however, Corbin viciously booted him out of the ring and covered Tye for the pin.
As Corbin himself mentioned on Talking Smack, that’s a win that won’t sit well with the WWE Universe. And perhaps it shouldn’t. Styles losing his title without getting pinned does seem like something of an injustice. But as Baron Corbin knows better than anyone, life can be unfair, and sometimes respect must be taken.

First out is the new United States Champion, Baron Corbin. This should be great as Corbin was always money on Talking Smack. He says it feels good to make people eat their words, and the result was never in doubt no matter if it was the advertised 1 on 1 match or the changed to triple threat. He says that he will hold the US Title forever and makes threats to get back at John Cena. He is in the WWE to win Championships and he plans on putting a row of them on his wall. Corbin says nobody deserves anything and that is why there are no tough guys anymore because everyone is wanting handouts. Be a man and take what you want like he just did. Rosenberg asks why he likes to take shots at people on social media. Corbin says those fans sit in their mom’s basement and drool over guys who wrestled in Japan and come up in the Indys. They talk crap on a keyboard, but then ask for his autograph when they see him in person. He tells everyone to get in line who want a shot as he doesn’t respect anyone. He is going to celebrate with a glass of whiskey and a cigar with his family. Renee and Peter offer him congratulations as he takes his leave. I love give no crap Corbin.

AJ Styles has said that Baron Corbin is a Superstar who takes shortcuts and squanders opportunities. Well, The Lone Wolf was pretty straightforward with The Phenomenal One about what he wants next: a match at WWE Hell in a Cell for the United States Title.

Corbin is coming off a cruel summer by any measure, but the former Mr. Money in the Bank didn’t let a failed bid for the WWE Championship stop him from going after one of SmackDown LIVE’s most popular Superstars. For weeks, The Lone Wolf meddled in AJ’s affairs, interfering in The Phenomenal One’s planned United States Open Challenge title defense against Tye Dillinger on the Aug. 29 edition of the blue brand before the opening bell could ring. Weeks later, Corbin savagely attacked AJ and Dillinger after Styles successfully defended the star-spangled title in a bout against The Perfect 10. However, before the score could be settled in a one-on-one title showdown between Styles and Corbin on Sept. 18, Dillinger emerged for some payback of his own, brawling with The Lone Wolf and preventing the match from ever getting started.

Styles has remained champion through all of this, but his comments about The Lone Wolf’s work ethic and efficiency finally drove the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner off the edge following a bout with Dillinger one week later. Corbin attacked Styles mid-match and, after disposing of The Perfect 10, stated in no uncertain terms that Styles could not defend the title against him one-on-one, leading to the challenge at WWE Hell in a Cell.

In other words, no shortcuts were taken, and Corbin now has his match. What he does with the opportunity is up to him.

Tune in to see who leaves as U.S. Champion at WWE Hell in a Cell, streaming live Sunday, Oct. 8, at 8 ET/5 PT on the award-winning WWE Network.
