Baron Corbin won Most Metal Athlete from Revolver Music Awards in 2016. The only other recipient to win that was The Game, Triple H! So it's pretty awesome that our Lone Wolf is now apart of that as well.

Since arriving in NXT in August, the extra-powerful and extremely agile Crews has dominated, going on an impressive undefeated streak. It was a foregone conclusion that the newcomer would be included in an NXT Championship No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal. Crews outlasted most of the NXT roster in the over-the-top-rope fracas, finding himself across the ring from Corbin in the end. After a hard-hitting fight, Crews staggered The Lone Wolf with a kick and clotheslined him out of the ring to earn a championship match, something a furious Corbin would not forget.Facing NXT Champion Finn Bálor on Nov. 4, Crews was hanging tough, looking like he could pull off the biggest victory of his career. Unfortunately, Corbin wasn’t about to let that happen. He charged into the ring and went straight for Crews. The Lone Wolf pummeled Crews around ringside, eventually hurling him into the unforgiving steel ring steps.
Crews got a measure of retribution the following week, ambushing Corbin at the start of NXT. He ran The Lone Wolf into the ring post, sending Corbin scrambling for cover. Corbin did not take the attack lightly, issuing a challenge for TakeOver: London and promising that Crews would be a footnote in his rise to the top. Crews was more than ready to accept, setting the stage for a battle between two of NXT’s hottest prospects.

Who will continue his quest for glory in NXT across the pond: Apollo Crews or Baron Corbin? Find out at NXT TakeOver: London, live on WWE Network, Wednesday, Dec. 16, at a special start time of 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT!

Baron Corbin def. Tye Dillinger
The Lone Wolf was supremely confident as his showdown across the pond with Apollo Crews draws near. Tye Dillinger tried to stun Corbin early, but The Perfect 10’s flurry only angered the big man. Corbin picked Dillinger apart, taking pleasure in dishing out punishment. Dillinger fought back and got a near-fall, but after Corbin kicked out, The Lone Wolf quickly put an end to things, catching a diving Dillinger and muscling him around into the End of Days.

Apollo Crews attacked Baron Corbin
Baron Corbin was satisfied with himself after ruining Apollo Crews’ chances of becoming NXT Champion last week. The Lone Wolf was looking to reassert himself in the NXT Title picture this week, with a victory over Tye Dillinger. However, the match never got started, as a furious Crews rushed to the ring and ambushed Corbin, running him into the ring post and hammering on The Lone Wolf, eventually forcing Corbin to retreat.

Apollo Crews def. NXT Champion Finn Bálor by Disqualification
Both competitors were supremely confident as the bell rang in this championship clash. Crews tried to end the bout early with a quick rollup, but Bálor wouldn’t go down without a fight. The back-and-forth fight saw Crews using his strength and uncanny agility, while Bálor countered with hard strikes and his grapping skills.

Just when it looked like one Superstar would get the upper hand, the other would cut him off and take control. Each countered the other’s patented finishing maneuver, but before the bout could reach its natural conclusion, Baron Corbin interjected himself into the fray. The Lone Wolf took his frustrations out on Crews, who eliminated him from the No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal before setting his sights on the NXT Champion.

Samoa Joe rushed to the ring to run Corbin off, but shocked the NXT Universe when he turned around and pummeled Bálor into the canvas! The submission specialist was relentless in his attack before perching Bálor on the top rope and crushing him with the Muscle Buster. The arena came to a hush as Joe’s vicious offensive finally came to an end, with Joe draping the NXT Title over the fallen champion.

It was the slap heard ‘round the Interwebz! Slipknot’s Corey Taylor smacked wrestler Baron Corbin at last weekend’s Aftershock Festival, helping a grateful Samoa Joe win the WWE NXT match.
But here’s what you haven’t seen.
Earlier in the day, Corbin interrupted APTV’s backstage interview with Taylor. The trash talk and taunting, which eventually culminated in Corbin poking Taylor in the chest and Taylor thanking him with a smack, actually began at this year’s APMAS. It was there that WWE superstar and APTV correspondent Corey Graves first had words with Slipknot’s frontman, igniting a rivalry that spilled over to social media.
Following last weekend’s altercation, Graves  Tweeted “#ThisAintOver.”
Watch Corbin bumrush Josh Bernstein’s APTV interview with Corey Taylor, backstage at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California.

Baron Corbin def. Rhyno
The destructive duo of Baron Corbin & Rhyno made it all the way to the final of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic at TakeOver: Respect, but their partnership crumbled when The Lone Wolf tossed The Man Beast from last week’s NXT Championship No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal. The two titans started the bout by trading blows, the thud of bone connecting with bone echoing through the arena. The brawl spilled out to the floor, with The Lone Wolf eventually hurling Rhyno into the steel steps.

That gave Corbin the opening he needed to take control of the match and manhandle The Man Beast. Corbin used his strength to wear Rhyno down, keeping the former ECW Champion on the mat. The veteran fought back, but was cut off by Corbin at nearly every impasse. Though Rhyno eventually rammed him into the ring steps, Corbin persevered on his way to victory, kicking out of the Gore before countering a second with End of Days to cap off an impressive win.

Apollo Crews won an NXT Championship No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal
The NXT roster crammed into the ring for the evening’s over-the-top-rope main event, with a future NXT Championship opportunity hanging in the balance. Samoa Joe found himself at a disadvantage early, as all four of his TakeOver: Respect opponents — Scott Dawson, Dash Wilder, Baron Corbin and Rhyno — cornered him early.

The crowd thinned out, with several competitors being tossed from the ring, capped off by Apollo Crews hurling Johnny Gargano out onto the mass of humanity gathered on the arena floor. Corbin and Rhyno looked to be working together and on the right track, until The Lone Wolf tossed The Man Beast out of the match! In the end, the bout came down to Crews, Corbin, Joe and Tyler Breeze.  Joe went on a rampage and eliminated Prince Pretty, only for a furious Breeze to refuse to leave ringside and yank Joe off the ring apron, ending the submission specialist’s night early.

Crews and Corbin traded bombs as the NXT Universe watched on, waiting to see who would challenge Finn Bálor next. The Lone Wolf tried to toss Crews, but only grew frustrated when Apollo got back in the ring. Crews got a second wind and staggered Corbin with a series of enzuigiri kicks before clotheslining The Lone Wolf out of the ring to earn a future NXT Championship opportunity!
