Baron Corbin won Most Metal Athlete from Revolver Music Awards in 2016. The only other recipient to win that was The Game, Triple H! So it's pretty awesome that our Lone Wolf is now apart of that as well.

Back when Baron Corbin was on the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad — long before he became the man the NXT Universe loved to hate — he had a reputation as a bit of a loose cannon. If an opposing player pulled a dirty move or stepped out of line, Corbin had no problem putting them in his place.

“One time, I was practicing against the Tennessee Titans, and one of their defensive linemen took a cheap shot at our running back, so I planted him,” he told WWE.com. “When he got up, he tried to get in my face. My [offensive] line coach shouted that he had a better chance of winning the lottery than that fight.”

It’s that kind of supreme confidence, along with three Golden Gloves boxing titles and several grappling championships, that makes Corbin one of the most dangerous men in NXT. He has demolished nearly everyone in his path in mere seconds, cementing his reputation as a no-nonsense a**kicker.

Now, The Lone Wolf has met his first true test in Samoa Joe, whom he’ll face at the historic NXT TakeOver at the sold-out Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Though Corbin has come into his own as a brawler since arriving in NXT, his showdown with Joe is the fight he’s been waiting for his entire life.

Corbin can’t recall a time when he wasn’t scrapping with someone, starting at a young age.

“I have a brother, we had some good brawls,” he recalled. “Our dad was an iron worker, a really tough guy. He raised us to be strong and stand up for ourselves. Whatever we want, we go and get it. Sometimes, you have to take it.”

With a strong competitive nature, he took to the gridiron as a fourth grader to get his fill of physicality. Continue reading »

Samoa Joe def. Steve Cutler

With a showdown against Baron Corbin in Brooklyn looming, Samoa Joe proved that he can do just as much damage as The Lone Wolf, quickly putting Steve Cutler out with the Coquina Clutch. As Joe made his way back to the locker room, though, Corbin attacked him from behind, dazing Joe with brutal strikes as the headed back toward the ring. Samoa Joe made an effort to fight Corbin off, but The Lone Wolf proved he was able to connect with End of Days, hoisting the 300-pound Joe up for his devastating move. Corbin let out a primal roar after, showing that Joe won’t put him down so quickly at TakeOver.

Two of NXT’s most destructive competitors will collide at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, when Samoa Joe locks horns with Baron Corbin.

For months, Corbin has been wreaking havoc throughout NXT, demolishing nearly everyone in his path in mere seconds with the devastating End of Days. Seemingly tired of the quick bouts, Corbin finally stood over another one of his fallen foes and brazenly declared that no one could get up from his impactful finisher.

Taking that statement as a challenge, Samoa Joe strode to the ring and got in The Lone Wolf’s face, saying that there’s no chance Corbin could connect with End of Days on him. When Corbin disagreed, Joe dared the monster to try right then and there. Corbin said he’d be happy to, but not then. Joe tried to halt The Lone Wolf, but set off a brawl instead! Corbin appeared to have the upper hand on Joe as he pummeled him into the canvas. The Lone Wolf picked Joe up and threw him into the ropes, looking to hit End of Days, but Joe ducked under Corbin’s arm and locked on the Coquina Clutch.

The NXT Universe was stunned as Joe’s submission maneuver brought Corbin to his knees. They were shocked beyond belief as the hold quickly put the near-unstoppable Superstar to sleep. Full Sail University erupted in cheers as Joe stood over the fallen Corbin. NXT General Manager William Regal, perhaps sensing that more carnage was to come, almost immediately sanctioned a match between the two bruisers for TakeOver: Brooklyn.

Who will stand tall when NXT’s hardest-hitting competitors clash: Samoa Joe or Baron Corbin? Watch the chaos unfold at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn and find out! It all goes down Saturday, Aug. 22 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

Baron Corbin def. Axel Tischer

Post Match: Corbin cuts a promo complaining about the competition and that no one gets up from the End of Days. Corbin goes after Tischer again, but Steve Cutler comes out to try and make a save, but gets laid out. Corbin starts talking again until Samoa Joe comes out. The two challenge each other, until they end up brawling, with Joe choking Corbin out in the end.

We think absolutely not!

Your thoughts?
